Hi everybody, I hope you've all been sunning yourself in this beautiful weather here in the UK. It's been great for a Bank Holiday. What more could you want. Sun and time off work! I must apologise for the late posting of the Blog but what with me being away in France I
haven't had much time to do anything other than unpack and try and rest after a hectic few days.

The purpose of the trip was to go on the hunt for the Holy Grail. If any of you have read the Dan Brown
Da Vinci Code books then you'll know what I'm talking about. Those that
haven't well sit back and just enjoy the pictures of Paris. My trip started on the
Euro star which I must say is a fabulous train. It is such a simple journey and so effortless and quick. So much
quicker and convenient than flying. My journey began in London Waterloo where the
Euro star whizzed off at high speed through the Kent countryside to the tunnel and eventually ending up in Gar Du
Nord, Paris. It has been years since I was last in Paris and that trip was a disaster so I was going to try my hardest to make it a trip to remember.
As I made my way through the city in the taxi passing all the familiar sites and sounds of manic Paris the sun was blazing through the windows. The hotel was great. Le Meridien Et toile just a short walk from the Arc de Triomphe. Once checked in it was a case of dashing across Paris on foot to follow the Meridien line to the Louvre. For those of you that don't know the original Meridien line or 'Rose Line' ran through Paris before it was nicked by Britain hundreds of years ago and as I'm sure you know now runs through Greenwich.

The walk is long from the hotel and is probably about an hour on

foot but the afternoon was so beautiful it seemed worthwhile. Up the Champs Elise and down through the
Tuilleries gardens. Passing all the flowers and boutique shops. Until eventually you arrive at the massive courtyard where you see the glass pyramids rising up from the ground. I think they are fabulous but they are not
every ones taste. Inside is where the story of the
Da Vinci code began. The dead body of
Jacques Saunier and the mysterious message. The paintings, the Mona Lisa and of course the work of
Da Vinci. The picture on the right is where the Holy Grail or Mary
Magdalene is
supposedly buried, I'm very
sceptical about all of the things in the book. It is hard to prove or disprove it.

Walking back to the hotel in the sunset taking in the
Parisian air was great. The Champs Elise is quite an interesting place. With Shops and Airline companies all mixed up in there posh looking buildings (
Oooops I just spilt my Pot Noodle, hang on). I just loved the Arc De
Triumphe. It is such a wonderful building. One of the centre pieces of the capital. As you drive round it the mad Paris traffic rushes by in all directions and is so terrifying I don't envy any driver over there!

Day 2 and it was grab a quick croissant and then back on the trail of the Holy Grail. This time heading for the Latin Quarter to the Church of Saint
Sulpice. This is where I mentioned before the Rose Line ends. It is also the part in the film where '
Sila's' sits outside in his car by the fountain in the square asking for God's forgiveness before he goes inside and kills this Nun. It again is a wonderful building. Quite run down but by the looks of it all the money from Hollywood is allowing it to be
refurb'd which is great. Although I don't think the church like all this
Da Vinci stuff.....
A quick Crepe and it's onto the next site for my tour.
Notre Dame. I always enjoy it here. Sitting

on the banks of the Seine watching all the tourist boats float by. The church is again amazing piece of architecture. All of the gargoyles on the side make it authentic and even more interesting to me.
The final evening of my trip it was to be the best
attraction

that I think Paris has to offer. The Eiffel Tower. I love this place. There is no more romantic place in the world than here. To be walking around the gardens below the tower at night is great. The tower lit up in yellow and now occasionally it flashes white and looks beautiful!
Then after a good nights sleep it was back on the train back to the UK. What have I learnt from this little excursion. Well....that I would like to learn French. So watch this space my friends...

Your Grace,
Hooray, HRH Wills finally saw reason and has thrown over Kate (and her gum-chewing mum) so that he and I can live in true love forever. I thought he'd never see reason.
I have spent the last week with a cold -- it's one of those moving colds that starts the first day as a sore froat, next day goes into me chest, then becomes a cough, then is aches and pains...ugh. The good thing -- knock wood -- is that there has been little to no fever associated with this one. The weather is changing here -- hot then cold then hot then cold, etc., so no surprise I've come down with something.
I got a well nasty sprain in my right ankle last week at the footy. I played on but when I came off the pitch my foot ballooned up -- I looked like one of those big fat people with stumps going into their shoes LOL No identifiable ankle bone as it was all just puff. Nevermind. It's quite a bit better as of this morning so I think I shall take to the pitch tomorrow -- minding the ankle's condition all the while -- and see what I can make of myself. Two games tomorrow and then another on Tuesday. I am now up to three games a week again. Good God, an old geezer like me out there -- what am I like??? LOL
Everyone is well here (aside from me cold). Alan came over last night and he's going for a big promotion at work...he should find out in a week if he got it. I made my Stu King Special Dinner -- yep, a pizza LOL Served it with a yummy (if I do say so myself) Thai rice salad and some regrettable plonk I shall never buy again.
Tonight Preston is coming over with his roommate and I am cooking a Sunday joint one day early.
Got my horseradish root to grate over the meat, which will be served with cheesy parsnip mash. Before that, I shall lay on some delicious salad greens (dandelions, coriander, tarragon, edible flowers like pansy blooms, etc.), with dried cranberries and goat cheese bits, dressed with a bit of hazlenut oil and fig vinegar. There's an incredible California cabernet sauvignon wine for the meat and an Austrian Gruner Veltliner from Austria for the salad. YUMMY!
You should hop on a plane right now and come to Seatttle! :-) The BA flight lands here every day around 4pm. Just in time for dinner, sir!
For my bit, I just finished my taxes and discovered that instead of owing more money to the government, I shall be getting a tidy sum back! I overpaid. So this is very good news. I will get my government check back in time for Europe, I reckon.
Also, was informed by my boss on Wednesday that I have received a pay rise, effective May 1. So just in time to spend it all on your burfdye!!! LOL Don't hold your breath! JUST KIDDING (Stu slaps Todd)
I will send you something -- Christ, I'd best get it in the mail now what with the speed of the post these days. Maybe you wouldn't mind a gift voucher? I will send something nice, I promise. How old are you this time, sir?
OK, well, I need to go have brekkie now so that I can be off down the pub in time to get a seat for the Manchester v Watford FA Cup semi in an hour and a half's time. I am pleased we had that win against Roma....would be very nice if we got right to it against Watford and could then rest some of the lads later in the game.
I miss you -- I hope that you are thinking ahead and that you will be able to meet up with Preston and me in London. We are around from the afternoon of June 28 and all day the 29th, then have dinner plans with some folks on the night of the 29th, and then around all day the 30th but will need to grab an early kip that night as we leave for Stansted at 5am the next morning, and Italy awaits.
And how is Bobby? Your mum and sister and Keef and James? Suzy's in my thoughts -- I hope she's moving on from all the bad stuff at home. Give my best to everyone...
Bless you, sir, and I am so hopeful that I will be able to see your smiling face in London, if even for a couple hours over a meal. I know you are busy (but not at what Raks says you are busy at LOL HAHA).
Take care, your grace...

And sorry to ignore your lovely and informative post. You certainly put the "gay" in Gay Paris.
Eurostar is a wonderful conveyance, sir. I have taken it, I believe, 10 times back and forth thru the tunnel.
Did you know that gypsies jump under the train in Lille and ride under the cars all the way thru the tunnel? Then they get off in Folkestone and buy a David Cameron hoodie :-) It's all true.
Hope you enjoyed the City of Love, your Grace.
